Paul Flavell graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was Commissioned into the British Army Infantry in 1991.

Early service included a wide range of Platoon Commander appointments in both training and operational roles.

As a trainer he has been employed at every level from individual, through to Battle group level and beyond and is an expert in the safe conduct of all arms Battlegroup live fire training and COIN.

In staff appointments he was employed as the principal staff officer responsible for operational planning and also in intelligence roles at Brigade, Divisional and Joint Task Force level.

Paul received formal staff training at the UK Defence Academy on the Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC) and was awarded the post nominals psc(j) and a Masters degree in Defence Studies.

In Command he was employed in all command appointments, on operations, up to and including Company Commander.

His operational experience is extensive including multiple tours of Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan, in command and staff appointments.

He retired from the UK Army in February 2010 and took up the position of International Projects Director with Strategic Operations in December 2010.
